Common questions

How much does Stash cost?

€1.99 (or the equivalent in your country's currency), paid once on the App Store. There is no subscription and nothing to unlock inside the app. The Apple Watch app, widgets and iCloud sync are included.

Where is my data?

On your iPhone. Stash has no accounts and no servers. Turn on iCloud sync in Settings if you want your own devices to share it; see the privacy policy.

How do I log something quickly?

Tap + on Home, type the amount, pick a category. Or type a sentence in Describe it ("Coffee 4.50 at Starbucks") and the amount, title, store and category are filled in. You can also scan a receipt, use the Control Center button, the widgets, or say "Log an expense in Stash" to Siri.

What is "safe to spend"?

Your monthly budget minus what you have spent and what recurring bills still take this month, spread over the days left. It is what you can spend per day and still land on budget.

Why does a transfer show a fee?

Transfers can carry a fee, recorded as an expense on the source account. By default the source pays the amount plus the fee and the destination receives the amount; switch Fee included in amount when the fee comes out of what you typed.

Changing the currency did not convert my amounts

That is intended: the currency setting only changes how amounts are displayed and labelled. Existing figures are kept as entered.

iCloud sync is not doing anything

Both devices need the same iCloud account, iCloud Drive enabled, and Stash's sync switch on. The setting applies the next time the app opens. Sync can take a minute after a change; leave the app open on both devices the first time.

The Apple Watch app says "Open Stash on iPhone"

The watch shows numbers once the iPhone app has synced them. Open Stash on the iPhone with the watch nearby.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings › Data has a full backup (restorable in Stash on another device), CSV export and CSV import.

How do I delete everything?

Settings › Data › Delete All Data removes all transactions. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.

Requirements

iPhone running iOS 26.6 or later. The Apple Watch app needs watchOS 26. Describe-it parsing and Siri entry parsing need Apple Intelligence enabled on the iPhone; without it the manual form still works.
